PEAK TALK: ARMAN ZAHAWY

Peak Talk returns with the most compelling cap collections from across Europe. We took a trip to London, linking up with Arman Zahawy, one of the foremost collectors of vintage New Era headwear in the UK.

Arman’s love for New Era started at 10 years old, when he first came across MLB team caps in his local sportwear store. He wasn’t carrying enough cash that day to buy his own, but his persistent requests for a White Sox cap eventually paid off. It wasn’t until the mid 00’s came around that the of impact of the 59FIFTY took over in London, and with caps already a staple for Arman he began collecting any coveted fitteds he could get his hands on.

Fast forward a decade and Arman’s passion for caps has taken him across the globe, introduced him to lifelong friends and even filters into his work life within the world of streetwear. Having an eye for rare, collector’s items and acknowledging the back stories that make his caps so significant is central to Arman’s collection. Often opting to purchase more obscure caps that are tied to moments in history and provide a unique window to past time.

Originally estimating his collection to be about 70 hats strong, Arman’s collection is closer to double that at over 150 pieces, the vast majority of which are MLB 59FIFTY caps. Storage space permitting, he has no plans on slowing down, and still has many historic pieces he hopes to add to his collection.

Stay tuned for the next Peak Talk instalment.
